There are three specialized groups:

  • Power Electronics Group (Chair for Power Electronics). Comprising experts in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control, and Energy.
  • Actuator Mechanisms Group (Chair for Actuators). Comprising experts in Control, Mechanical Engineering, and Process Engineering.
  • Control Software Group (Chair for Control Software). Comprising experts in Control, Information Technology, and Industrial Communication.

Mission:

Responsible for research and development of actuator mechanisms (based on electrical – electromechanical – electronic – micro-electromechanical principles), power electronic devices for automation technology, control methods for these devices, control software, and industrial communication networks.

Specifically:

  • Design and manufacture AC-AC, AC-DC, DC-AC, and DC-DC converters used in automation technology (e.g., electric drives, robot actuators, induction heating like forging or frequency heat treatment, power quality conversion and improvement, renewable energy sources, etc.)

  • Research, identify, and develop new power electronics circuit principles in response to industrial demands

  • Research and design hardware and software for controlling actuators and power electronics

  • Study methods and architectures for industrial communication, as well as distributed control system architectures
